How can fillers make me look younger?

Dermal fillers are an FDA approved gel-like solution that your dermatologist injects into areas of your face that have lost volume or dermal fillersdeveloped wrinkles due to the natural aging process. As you get older, your skin naturally loses some of its elasticity and suppleness. We also have bone loss that exacerbates the aging face.

You also produce less collagen and elastin than you did in your younger years. Fillers such as Juvéderm and Restylane utilize hyaluronic acid, a natural substance already found in your body, to enhance and tighten our skin so it appears smoother and more youthful. Some of the fillers, such as Sculptra, also stimulate your cells to produce new collagen and elastin, which together help to sustain the appearance of tighter, firmer skin.

How does Restylane specifically treat the signs of aging?
Restylane is another family of hyaluronic fillers that your doctor injects in several areas of your face and the back of your hands to restore volume and smooth wrinkles and lines. Depending on your areas of concern, Restylane fillers can:

  • Plump, add volume, and lift cheeks
  • Provide subtle lip enhancements and smooth out lines around your mouth
  • Reduce the appearance of laugh lines
  • Reduce the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around your nose and mouth
  • Correct marionette lines
  • Tighten the look of a sagging face

Each of the Restylane products is FDA-approved for specific treatment areas. Results typically last anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on the product and your skin condition.
